CalifrogMC Minecraft Server Logging Policy: Balancing Chaos with Minimal Oversight
Welcome to CalifrogMC, the Minecraft server where anarchy reigns supreme and creativity knows no bounds—just don't crash the server, okay? Modeled after the infamous 2b2t, CalifrogMC embraces the wild, unregulated ethos of true anarchic Minecraft. However, as much as we love chaos, there are still a few boring-but-necessary details about our logging policy to keep things running smoothly...
Do We Keep Logs? Yes, But Only Briefly
Here’s the deal: while the server thrives on anarchy, some basic housekeeping is still necessary. We do keep logs of server activity, but only for up to 30 days, thanks to automated log-cleaning plugins. These logs are primarily used for administrative and legislative purposes—which is a fancy way of saying "to make sure the server doesn't implode under its own weight."
Why 30 days? It’s the sweet spot between having enough time to review any major server issues and staying true to the spirit of minimal intervention. Once those 30 days are up, the logs are gone—automatically wiped clean without any admin snooping.
What Do We Log?
For transparency's sake, here’s a breakdown of what might end up in those logs:
- Player Activities: Standard stuff like commands issued and chat messages. This helps us identify potential server-breaking exploits.
- IP Addresses: While we try to withhold this information wherever possible, IP addresses may show up in logs by default. We don’t actively use or share this data unless absolutely necessary, but be aware of its potential presence.
- Server Performance Data: To track crashes or other technical issues.
Why Logs Are Necessary (Yes, Even in an Anarchy Server)
Anarchy doesn’t mean we completely abandon ship. Server logs are our safety net. They help us:
- Prevent Crashes: If someone tries to pull off a massive lag machine or exploit, we need logs to diagnose and fix the issue.
- Enforce Minimal Rules: The only real rule here is "don’t crash the server." Logs help us hold griefers accountable—ironically, even in an anarchy server.
- Keep the Server Functional: Without some level of oversight, the chaos could quickly devolve into unplayable entropy.
Admin Policy: Hands-Off as Much as Possible
At CalifrogMC, the guiding philosophy is No Admin Intervention. We don’t micromanage player behavior, nor do we poke through logs unless absolutely necessary. As long as you’re not intentionally trying to crash the server or exploit vulnerabilities to ruin the experience for others, you’re free to do what you want.
Logs are not reviewed to police behavior; they exist purely to ensure the server remains functional. (Especially after major updates which may break plugins)
Your Data: Disposable and Forgotten
We know privacy matters, even in a block game. By default, logs are automatically purged after 30 days. No exceptions, no admin overrides, no sneaky backups. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
The CalifrogMC Oath of Chaos
At CalifrogMC, we embrace the beautiful madness of anarchy with a policy that reflects our ethos: minimal interference, maximal fun. Just remember—our one golden rule is simple: don’t crash the server. Beyond that, the world is yours to shape, destroy, and rebuild.
