Average True Range (ATR) is a technical analysis volatility indicator. The indicator does not provide an indication of price trend, simply the degree of price volatility.
ATR are also often low despite a large number of outside bars: many of the OB’s are not very wide but they are being generated by the very narrow IB’s. Watch out for the IB’s to become less frequent and for ATR to start uptrending. ATR usually increases as price starts to emerge from consolidation into a trend, and trends mean opportunity.
