The Los Angeles sun beat down on MoNoRi-Chan's neck as he swiped through the Ingress intel map. A satisfied grin spread across his face. Sojourner Day 95, and his efforts were paying off. The city was awash in green, a testament to his strategic field placements and relentless portal capturing.
He'd spent the past week weaving a web of linked portals, painting the town (or rather, the city block) in the glorious colors of the Enlightened (ENL). It felt good, a digital masterpiece taking shape with every successful link.
However, a familiar pang of unease tugged at him. The battlefield wasn't always sunshine and XM farms. He glanced at the damage report – a new name: Tank007. A Resistance agent, it seemed, had taken offense to his green sprawl. The telltale "frogger" icon confirmed it – a single-target smash attack, a Resistance tactic designed to disrupt link chains.
MoNoRi-Chan wasn't about to let a lone frog disrupt his symphony. He pulled over near the targeted portal, a quaint coffee shop with a Resistance banner proudly displayed. A quick fifteen minutes later, the portal was fortified. High-level resonators gleamed defiantly, backed by a network of shields that could withstand even the most determined Resistance assault.
"Let Tank007 come," MoNoRi-Chan muttered, a glint of steel in his eyes. He'd show them the resilience of the ENL. With a satisfied nod, he closed the app and continued his errands, the brief Resistance skirmish a mere blip on his otherwise productive day.
Later that evening, as MoNoRi-Chan reviewed the Ingress intel map, a new development caught his eye. Tank007 had struck again, but this time, their attempt seemed… half-hearted. The attack was sloppy, easily repelled by the strengthened defenses. A smirk played on MoNoRi-Chan's lips. Perhaps Tank007 was just a tadpole, not yet a seasoned Resistance frog.
The encounter served as a reminder – complacency was the enemy. The fight for Los Angeles was far from over, and MoNoRi-Chan, the Sojourner from the East, was ready. He would continue to paint the town green, one strategic link, one fortified portal at a time. The Resistance might have their froggers, but the ENL had MoNoRi-Chan, the Green Guardian of Los Angeles.
