💀 Why Sleeping in Anarchy Isn’t That Easy (And Why CalifrogMC Keeps Phantoms Around)

Phantoms. The uninvited guests of the night, the tax collectors of the sleep-deprived, and the flying public service announcement that beds exist.

In most Minecraft Anarchy Servers, the admins make a simple decision: disable phantoms entirely.

Why? Because nobody actually sleeps in anarchy.

But CalifrogMC, the chaotic-yet-somehow-functional SMP+ experiment, decided to keep phantoms enabled—not out of love for these skyborne demons, but because…

💡 "If you’re dumb enough to AFK under the stars, you deserve it."

Let’s break it down.:

🛏️ The Sleeping Struggle in Anarchy

1. Why Sleeping in True Anarchy is Almost Impossible?

Anarchy servers like 2b2t (The Oldest Anarchy Server in Minecraft™) don’t just have phantoms—they have no sleeping at all.

  • Beds? Good luck placing one without being bedtrapped.
  • Trusting someone to sleep? HA.
  • Majority sleeping mechanics? Literally pointless when half the players are AFK and the other half are trying to kill them.

So, the only viable option for true anarchy players?

🔪 Murder the Phantoms or deal with it.

This is why most anarchy servers disable them completely—because at that level of chaos, the "sleeping problem" is unsolvable.

🌙 Why CalifrogMC Keeps Phantoms Enabled

Unlike true anarchy, CalifrogMC leans into SMP+ mechanics—anarchy with quality-of-life additions.

The question wasn’t "Should we remove phantoms?"

It was "Do phantoms actually serve a purpose here?"

And the answer? Yes. A very important one.

2. Phantoms = The Ultimate AFK Deterrent

CalifrogMC has:

✅ No Drop on Death – You keep your stuff even if you die.

✅ Instant /back – Dying isn’t even an inconvenience, just a minor time loss.

✅ /tpa & /home – Navigation is already made easy.

So what’s left to punish the lazy? Phantoms.

Phantoms are the natural punishment for careless players who decide to:

  • AFK under the stars like it’s their personal hotel lobby.
  • Forget that the night exists.
  • Think a wide-open field is a safe place to stand still.

Without phantoms, AFK players could sit in the open, untouched, for hours.

With phantoms, they get swarmed and humbled.

It’s not anarchy, it’s just justice.

3. CalifrogMC’s Sleeping System: Majority Rules, Not Everyone Needs to Nap

One reason many servers remove phantoms is because of bad sleeping mechanics.

If 100% of players need to sleep, then phantoms become an unavoidable nightmare.

But CalifrogMC?

  • Only 50% of players need to sleep to skip the night.
  • Staff, OGs, and Admins don’t count towards the vote.

That means skipping the night is totally possible, but it requires at least some effort.

💡 Too lazy to fight phantoms? Get a few more people to vote-skip the night.

(Or you can use alts if you can't sway the vote, there's no rules about it.)

So beds in CalifrogMC aren’t about respawning. They’re basically a LightVote button for the lazy.

📜 Final Verdict: Phantoms Stay Because Some of You Need to Suffer

Most servers remove phantoms because they add frustration without purpose.

CalifrogMC keeps them because they actually serve a function.

💀 AFK players get farmed.

💡 Lazy players get a way out.

🏰 The world stays balanced.

So if you’re getting dive-bombed by these sleep-deprived bats with anger issues?

Maybe, just maybe…

Go inside. Build a roof. Or actually sleep.

And if that’s too much effort?

Well, the Royal Decree regrets to inform you that this is entirely your fault.
