Ingress/Inventory
Conquer the Portals, Not Your Inventory: A Guide to Ingress Inventory Management
Ingress, the augmented reality game, throws a plethora of loot your way – resonators, XM, mods, cubes, and keys. But for free users with a limited 2000-slot inventory, managing this bounty becomes an art form. Worry not, Agent! This guide will help you declutter and optimize your arsenal based on your playstyle.
Defense Disciples:
- Resonator Reign: You prioritize protecting your portals. Stock up on high-level resonators (Lv 8 is ideal, but keep some Lv 7s too). Consider farming for specific portals you want to fortify.
- XM Extermination: Got excess XM? Don't fret! Charge your resonators to depletion. This not only strengthens your portals but also clears your XM reserves.
- Cube Catastrophe: Don't get cubed-in! Use common cubes liberally to hack portals and deplete your stash. Consider targeting portals you wouldn't normally hack for efficiency.
Offensive Onslaught:
- XMP Extermination: Breach enemy portals with ease! Focus on XMP capsules Lv 4 and above. Recycle lower levels – they tickle, not demolish.
- Mod Marvel: Fortify your attack with offensive mods like Force Amps and Turrets. Strategically equip them based on your tactics.
Fielding Fanatics:
- Resonator Rainbow: Embrace diversity! While Lv 8 resonators are king, keep a healthy mix of Lv 1 and Lv 2 (at least 40 each) for flexible field building.
- Key Caution: Fielding far from home? Consider using common keys. Dropping them on major transportation lines allows other Agents to grab them, potentially aiding your cause (or hindering their farming, depending on your perspective).
Bonus Tips:
- Recycle Relentlessly: Regularly review your inventory. Recycle low-level items or keys you don't use and consider bulk recycling for efficiency.
- Key Consciousness: Dropping keys can be risky. Consider alternative disposal methods like deploying on remote portals.
- Community Connection: Partner with other Agents! Trade items, share strategies, and leverage their inventory expertise.
Remember, Agent, a well-managed inventory is a powerful weapon. Adapt these tips to your playstyle, experiment, and conquer the portals, not your inventory!
Farang's Meta
It differs depending on the situation in my area. I usually dominate my city with my friends so I have relatively small anount of xmps and US. Instead I focus on accumulating more resonators and mods and keys for building. Same should apply to you but I here are general recommendations :
- If you are playing mostly solo then keep around 100 resonators of each lvl starting from lvl 4. Lv 7 and 8 could be lower like 50. Adjust the numbers to your play style.
- Any xmps below lv7 or 8 should be recycled. When you get enough XMP8 then lv7 can also be recycled.
- You can accumulate a large amount of trash mods if you glyph hack daily. About 30 common mods of every type (shields, heatsinks, multihacks) is more than enough. 20-30 link amps can be used to make softbanks. Rare and VR mods can be stored at your discretion if you there are too much of them, better use it at least somewhere than to recycle (rares can still be recycled if you want)
- Lastly, keys. Get rid of unknown portal keys especially if they are not of your colour. If you have a field established and you are not planning to let it decay (lv 8 portal network) then recycle keys and keep only 1 if you are sure you are not going to link to it again (eg the portal is already boxed in with links around it and further linking is not possible)
Upd: also just noticed that you have a lot of cubes. Use them to work on the recharger medal or simply for gaining free ap by sitting on your couch. Accumulate only hypercubes to a certain point, everything else can be used for recharge
