The Cakeening: A WorldEdit Fiasco (But Delicious!) Coordinates: World (Ch.1) 1433, 200
MoNoRi-Chan, one of CalifrogMC's Royal Decree with a mischievous streak, found himself in a sugary predicament. Collaborating with Grassstation, they embarked on a project to build a magnificent underground village. Here's where the "happy accident" unfolded.
The Experiment Gone Wrong:
MoNoRi-Chan, ever the tinkerer, decided to experiment with Minecraft's structure generation features. He envisioned a streamlined process where a pre-built template village could be quickly replicated above ground, mirroring the layout of the one being constructed below. The intention was to save time and ensure a perfect surface replica.
Unfortunately, MoNoRi-Chan encountered a crucial limitation. Unlike WorldEdit, Minecraft's structure generation features often lack a comprehensive undo function. This meant any errors in the template placement would be permanent. And thus, the structures were generated in suspension mid-air.
The Cake Solution:
Faced with a potentially disastrous situation, MoNoRi-Chan channeled his inner prankster. Instead of resorting to explosions or WorldEdit terrain Regeneration, he hatched a delightfully chaotic plan: The Cakeening.
WorldEdit to the Rescue (Of Sorts):
WorldEdit, MoNoRi-Chan's go-to tool for large-scale building projects, came into play once again. He meticulously used WorldEdit's selection tools to define a precise region encompassing the entire surface footprint of the planned village.
However, instead of the usual cobblestone blocks, MoNoRi-Chan employed a different WorldEdit trick. He utilized the //overlay
command, a powerful tool that allows for the placement of blocks on top of existing structures.
With a mischievous click and the command //overlay cake
, the entire designated region transformed into a village with its roofs adorned in a delicious layer of cake.
The Unforeseen Consequences:
While the Cake Village became an instant server sensation, it did pose some unforeseen challenges. The four connected villages nestled beneath the cake were completely encased in a sugary shell. This might have provided the villagers with an endless supply of food, but it also significantly hampered their movement and potentially disrupted their professions.
Lessons Learned (Maybe):
The Cakeening serves as a cautionary tale with a sweet ending. It highlights the importance of understanding the limitations of in-game tools like Minecraft's structure generation. Additionally, it showcases MoNoRi-Chan's ability to turn a potentially disastrous situation into a memorable server event. After all, who can resist the allure of a giant, inhabitable cake village?
